Purpose Of Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga classes use the breath to create a link between the body and the mind. Hatha classes build flexibility and strength while minimizing the chance of injury. This well-rounded style balances and opens the body. You will learn to still the mind and be present in the moment.

- Basic Transformational hatha yoga asana
- Techniques of transformational yoga within the asanas
- Surya Namaskar and Chandra namaskar (sun & moon salutations)
- Basic preparatory joint movements to warm up & prevent injuries
- Sanskrit names of all positions
HIstory and Philosophy
- Comparison and brief history of main branches of yoga
- various understandings of Hatha yoga scriptures
- Patanjali’s Yogic philosophy and the 8 limbs of yoga
Pranayama - 'Control of the prana'
- Kapalabhati (cleansing breaths)
- Nadi shodana (alternate nostril breathing)
- Bhramari (humming bee breath)
- Ujjayi (victorious breath)
- Shitali & Sitkari (cooling breath)
Anatomy and Physiology
- Physical Anatomy and Physiology- basic knowledge of body systems including respiratory, digestive, circulatory, nervous, musculoskeletal, endocrine systems
- Psychic Physiology of yoga: Ida, pingala, shushumna
- Kundalini theory
- Nadis and the nervous system
